The late Mr. Haas was born in Waterloo County 75 years ago, and came to this township with his parents when eleven years of age. In 1902 he was united in marriage to Mary Sim and they lived for several years on a farm on the 18th concession. They later moved to the present farm on the 14th concession.
Mrs. Haas predeceased him in May. 1939. A daughter Mary also passed away in childhood. He is survived by two sons, Robert in Sarnia and Arthur at home.
The funeral was held from his late residence, the service being conducted by Rev. L. A. Knox, of Holstein United Church of which the deceased was a faithful member and elder until failing health forced his retirement from active life.
Interment was made in Amos cemetery. Beautiful floral tributes bore testimony to the high esteem in which deceased had been held. The flower bearers were Jas. Nicholson, Jno. Allen, Fleming Reid and Jas. Coutts. The pallbearers were: Jas. Ferguson, Jno. Stevenson, Victor Adams, Geo. Pollock, Conrad Schenk and Geo. Alles.
