  John G. Hoffman, "son of Henry and Mary (Graeb) Hoffman, was born near Bloomingdale, Ontario, August 3rd, 1850. On December 25th, 1874, he was married to Leah Kercher who was born June 12th, 1854, and died March 12th, 1882. On November 14th, 1882, he was again married to Mary Ann Kolb, widow of the late Abram Jacobs. They reside a few miles east of Berlin where he is engaged in farming. His family consisted of four children" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character.
