- Services Set For Calgary Hotel Man
NELSON, B.C. (CP)-Funeral services were to be held at Calgary Wednesday for Jacob A. Knoepfli, 74, who died in Kootenay Lake General Hospital here Monday.
Mr. Knoepfle built the York Hotel in Calgary was its owner and manager along with the St. Regis, also in Calgary, until he sold his hotel interests in 1946.
Born in Berne, Switzerland, he came to Canada at the age of two with his parents, settling in Ontario. At 17 he went to Calgary following year began homesteading in the Didsbury district. He was a member of the Calgary Lions Club and a life member of the Calgary board of trade. He lived in Victoria before to Balfour, on nearby Kootenay Lake, in 1949.
Besides his wife, survivors are one son, Allen, in Edmonton; two daughters, Miss Enid Knoepfli and Mrs. Leslie Boulton, both in Okotoks, Alta., and six grandchildren. Newfoundland was England's first colony..
