Notes |
- Oscar S. Eby has been described as a humorist and philosopher, a man whose kindly wit was much appreciated. He was the founder and publisher of the Hespeler Herald. His family moved to Preston in 1883 where his father was a miller in the Cherry Flour Mill. He worked for a time for the Preston Progress and later while still young travelled Western Ontario working for several magazines. He in 1895 partnered with Thomas H. Sears to published the first Hespeler Herald. He purchased Sear's interest in 1896 and remained as editor and proprietor for 23 years. In 1917 he was appointed as Registrar of the County of Waterloo.
