Notes |
- On February 17, 2012 we lost one of the 'Good Guys'. Following a brief illness, Alfred Lockard Chivers passed away peacefully in his 91st year. A life-time resident of Kitchener & Waterloo, ON, he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Isabelle (Hachborn); parents William & Mary (Moogk); brothers Jack & Bill; and sisters Jean Hooper & Isabelle Holmes. Alf is survived by his loving family, son Ted (Laurel) in Unionville, ON & daughter Mary (Patrick Harkins) in Guelph, ON. He will be sadly missed by his 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Alf served with the Canadian Army during the Second World War and was a lifelong Red Cross volunteer donor. Retired from Revenue Canada Customs and Excise, he was a proud Charter member and past President of Cameron Heights Kiwanis Club in Kitchener and a loyal, '32nd Degree' member of Glenrose Masonic Lodge No.628, in Elmira, ON. Alf loved to travel with Isabelle and take photographs of cathedrals and pubs, two of his passions. For the past 3 1/2 years he resided in the Sunshine Centre, Luther Village, where the staff became a second family. Thanks for the wonderful care he received. Thanks, also, to the 6C staff at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener for making his final days comfortable.
