      Obituary for Eula Brenner

BRENNER, Eula "Lorraine"nee Hopefully at some point in there life every boy think's there mother is a saint, luckily for both of us I found out many years ago that mine actually was .My mother never had an easy life, she never went to a dance never went to a restaurant until I took her with my shoe shine money when I was ten and her 45 and never played bingo until she was in her late 70's and in care. Yet she gave with an open honest generosity everyday and it seems to every living creature, human animal or mineral she loves people as well as dogs as well as plants in the garden, she seems to understand and love every living thing and thus life, never one to complain she somehow battled on fiercely loving of her children in her eyes they could really do no wrong. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am a natural born procrastinator its now 2:19pm and the deadline for this obituary is 3:00pm I've had almost 3 days to write it and but I have this sneaking suspicion that if I write it I'm going to have to bury her someday and God knows I'm not quite ready for that, I'll need a couple of days therefore You are all invited to an old fashioned Irish Wake with a Little Yiddish Humor and Guilt, God knows my mother loved company, so please come as you are be yourself don't put on any airs my mother never did and always maintained her dignity if you need a ride call if you feel distant to the family or friends all is forgiven call come celebrate the Remarkable life of a Loving intelligent caring nurturing lady who lived a long and colorful journey with an offspring and legacy she can be proud of. Luckily I visited my mother twice the day and night before her Passing Over we had a perfect vast and I know what the word means trust me and ask my sisters Phyllis and Marie who were there with me it went well mom was responsive clear eyes after some loving affection and Voice recognition I kissed her gently yet consistently on her cheek and joked with here telling her over rand over again you're a good girl you're a good girl then I told her mom you had a long hard life if you're in pain and you want to see your brothers Roy and Harry who passed over before you or your sister Rita AND Bertie then you decide I'm here we're here and you'll be fine mom you're going to a much better place and not to worry to relax and u decide mom whatever you want is what you need mom you deiced. I left knowing she was at peace and felt she was ready to pass over at peace with herself her life and her surrounding we should all be called home so peacefully. Celebrating her life and times will be her Family Jimmy Hannigan and his wife Minda from Hamilton, David Brenner my [oldest] brother to whom I owe my very existence at one time or another in my life his Loving wife Noreen nee Cardiff, there loving children Emily my, confidante and newly acquired executive assistant, her two little soldiers, Cedric age 6 and Alexander age 4, Sarah my fiery red haired niece Sarah and Matthew my oldest Brother's Only Son. My oldest sister Phyllis who's loving dedication saw her faithfully visit my mother on an almost daily basis for years, thank you Phyllis you comforted mom when we either couldn't or be there perhaps physically perhaps emotionally either way you were a great help and its noticed and appreciated by all. Phyllis has one daughter my niece Teresa, my mother and her were beyond close as loving and caring as any two mothers daughters or sisters very close at times two peas in a pod they loved each other and they knew it and so did everyone else, Teresa is with Mario and has two sons Billy in Hamilton and Michael in Welland both are fine upstanding young men with good straight heads on there shoulders, Billy was raised by his father Bill Woolridge who did a good job and ahs a special relationship with his Grandmother my sister Phyllis they share he same birthday also, very close, Teresa's youngest son is Michael an intelligent shy inquisitive fine young man a true gentleman. My sister Marie has always been my knight in shiny amour she would find me a place to live for years with an ex boyfriend buy me clothes to try to get me to go to school as a teenager in her red 77 pinto I was 18, organize my files when I applied to law school and try to help out more times them most people would bother yet she always took care of the important things in maws life and thankfully we had a nice family get together recently at Maries with mom and the family, last occasion are so much more priceless when gone. So thank you Marie for putting up with all our craziness over the years you are a good person with a good heart and always good intentions, thank you I couldn't do it with our you, Marie has a Son Jarrod, my nephew, he was almost born on my birthday but they came to the hospital on his own to be with his grandmother the night before her passing and comforted her greatly. I have two brother that I mostly grew up with Daniel or Danny or Johnny Danny was my tough guy ,cool guy , protector and teacher growing up always rambunctious and mischievous Danny made sure I wasn't he steered me on the clear and narrow he hates to admit it and often denied it but trust me he “convinced me to behave, although I was a party good kid to start with Thank God Danny is an incredibly talented individual who made his mother proud on many occasions starting with the arts and craft he made along with his humorous drawings at an very early age. Danny is a cross between an entrepreneur and a raconteur, his greatest success is more attainable then ever. Johnny is a gentle soul with a sharp analytical mind his wife Marie and him live in the falls, ailing in health both themselves, there presence here is a testament to moms love for them and them her. It's 3;23 Emily and I are thinking, We called Cudneys they said 4'00 was doable with no photo changes I wanted a younger picture of mom but I must finish this , I spent Peter J. Brenner spent the most time with mom growing up we moved 27 times then I lost count, we lived on 170 something a month in the 70's soup kitchens and food banks were no help we needed education we needed a caring family to mentor us to teach us to teach home economics to help a mother with 3 teen boys to raise not leftover or dented beans so I got a job collecting scrap iron and metals by the time I hit Welland in 1970 I had four kids shoe shying ask my dearest oldest friend Kenny Hamilton he'll have some stories to tell. Any way I liked to cook mom hated dishes would rather to field work or be with the boys then do house work but she loved my cooking so much that she would do dishes if I cooked we were dirt poor but very fussy I bought what we liked and loved to cook for her any one else I could feed. I'll go on and on its my nature please join the family at the Four Square Gospel Church to share many more stories of our mothers life most times the stories worth telling are the ones poor folks lived. Trust me when I tell you Maw's in Heaven and we ain't "Poor no More". Please Join the Majority of the family from Saturday, September, 2, 2006 from 7pm to 11pm . All are welcome please call the church at 905-734-7177 for rides information on family member attendance times and or any other question you may have. The church will be open from 7 pm on sat to service at 1 pm on Tuesday, September 5th, Interment to follow service at Zion Cemetery in Winglet where Eula will rest with her Husband Paul John Brenner, Her Mother Clara Isabel Plekey Smith Hannigan and her Father Thomas Hannigan, Please forgive this last minute rush but I think most of you understand.Thank You PJB
