  On Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1992, at his residence, Nithview Home, New Hamburg. Mahlon was formerly of RR1 New Hamburg and was born in Wilmot township 85 years ago, a son of the late John J, and Rebecca (nee Wagler) Bender. He was an active member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg and was a past president of the Haysville Sunshine Club. Beloved husband of the former Selena Ruby who predeceased him December 22, 1986. Loving father of Ruth and her husband Ron Zehr, Cleo Bender and his wife Joan, all of RR1, New Hamburg and Marjorie Kaethler of Toronto. Also remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura Ruby, Annie Bender, Orlando and Violet Ruby, all of New Hamburg, Emma Schlegel of Nairn and Ben and Elmina Ruby of Tavistock. Mahlon will be lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St. New Hamburg after 2 pm. today (Wednesday) and until tomorrow (Thursday) at 10 a.m. when transfer will be made to the 16th line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery for the burial at 10: 30 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Maurice Martin and Pastor Mary Schiedel officiating.
