- Myrtle Kathleen SNYDER
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Myrtle, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, with family by her side. Myrtle was in her 88th year.
Beloved wife of Vernice Snyder for over 66 years. Proud and devoted mother to Duane Snyder (Marion), Gwen Snyder and Pam Townsend. Adored grandmother of Tim (Ashley) Snyder, Scott Snyder, Jessica Kolaritsch, Chelsi (Kevin) Rego, Jason (Pam) Kolaritsch, John (Julie) Townsend, Trevor (Christy) Townsend, Tyler (Ali) Townsend. Cherished Great-Grandmother to 12. Predeceased by her husband Vernice, grandson Matthew Snyder, brother Sonny Snyder. Sadly, missed by his sister Betty Yantzi as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Born, April 5, 1933, in Baden, Wilmot Township to the late Delton and Beatrice Snyder. Myrtle was a driving force in the community life, Sunday School teacher at Shantz Mennonite Church, custom swathing for neighbours, involved in Snyder Transport, one of the first lady school bus drivers in the area (drove to age 70). She loved her Mennonite Relief Sale crepe rosettes booth, and other charities. New Hamburg Fall Fair, Queen of the Fair. Myrtle was a very busy and hardworking lady as all that knew her came to know. Myrtle also loved her holiday and family times, and we fondly remember our trips to Chesley Lake and Florida with friends and willing pranksters. As well as her motorcycle, bowling, cards, neighbourhood bonfires. Family and friends meant the world to her and we will miss her greatly.
In keeping with her wishes, there was a private family interment in the Shantz Mennonite Church Cemetery, and there will be a "Celebration of Life" for Vernice & Myrtle Snyder together in the spring. Date and location to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada through the funeral home and directly on Myrtles obituary page on the funeral home website.
