    • Joseph Griffin is Rescued and Later Placed Under Arrest

      Joseph B. Griffin of 31 Foundry street south was taken into custody at his home on Sunday evening after being rescued from death by asphyxiation. On Sunday evening the man was found Iying on the floor of the bathroom in a semi-conscious condition, with gas escaping from the jet the windows closed and the door locked. Boarders who detected the odor of escaping gas broke the door and rescued the man. He had been in restoratives.

      Griffin was later placed under arrest and lodged in the cells for the night. A charge of attempting to take his own life is being preferred against him this afternoon. In police court on Friday he was charged with securing liquor and being intoxicated while being on the "Indian list." and was fined $10.00.

      The accused is a married man with a family.
