- Alvin Gingerich died April 30, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, age 77. He was born November 18, 1926 in Wilmot Township. Alvin resided in Baden and was a son of the late John Z. and Annie (Steinman) Gingerich. Alvin was an active member of Steinman Mennonite Church, Baden where he had been an elder. He enjoyed interacting with people and loved church, family and community history. Prior to retirement Alvin had operated a dairy farm near Baden on the family homestead and more recently was a dealer for Pickseed Company. Beloved husband of Ruby Wagler whom he married May 28, 1955. Loving father of Laura Anne Gingerich and Ivan Huska of Vancouver, BC, Sam and Mary Lou Gingerich of Baden, Heidi and Gord McHugh of Oakville and Katherine Hyde of Kitchener. Sadly missed by grandchildren Shael and Sage Huska, Brandon and Ben Gingerich, Aaron, Nolan and Ethan McHugh and Jonathan and Justin Hyde. Dear brother of Marie and Omer Yantzi of Tavistock and Martha and Gerald Schwartzentruber of New Hamburg. Also remembered by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Agnes Gingerich of Kitchener, Emerson and Magdalene Wagler, Wilmer and Katie Wagler all of New Hamburg, Laverne and Bernice Wagler of RR 2 Baden, Sam and Elda Wagler of Tavistock and Irvin and Carol Wagler of RR 1 Shakespeare as well as many nieces and nephews. Alvin was predeceased by brother Orland S. Gingerich (2002). Family and friends called at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., on Sunday May 2, 2004 from 2-4- and 7-9 p.m. On Monday May 3, 2004 a public interment service took place at 2: 00 p.m. at Steinman Mennonite Cemetery followed by the memorial service in the church at 3: 00 p.m. Pastors Steve Drudge and Ilene Bergen officiated.
