Notes |
- Dorothy was born 13 April 1926 at Gregory, Michigan. She was the first daughter of Clifford and Rose Fields. Her siblings were Maxine (Mrs. Lloyd Munch), Donald, Glenn, Jim, and Ernie Fields, and Gail (Mrs. Ken Herriot).
The family moved from Michigan to Windor, Ontario, Canada, and then to Monetville, a tiny town in northern Ontario on crown land given to vets. Their 3 room cabin was heated with wood. There was no indoor plumbing nor electicity. The children slept on straw mattresses in the attic. The one-room school was 1 1/2 miles away, which required them to walk in all kinds of weather.
Dorothy moved to Hespeler in 1943 where the Dominion Woollen Mills were hiring. The next year, her mother and 5 siblings moved to Hespeler which allowed for greater educational opportunities.
Dorothy worked in the Bank of Montreal for 27 years. She was a member of Saint Luke's United Church.
Dorothy married Donald Paddock in September 1970.
Don was a farmer; Dorothy did all the bookkeeping for the farm.
In 1973, Dorothy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
