- IRELAND, WILLIAM
At his home on Queen St. East in Hespeler, at an early hour on Tuesday morning, September 4, 1934, an elderly and well known resident, in his 78th year. He was born in Dundee, Scotland and came to Canada at a comparatively early age and spent practically his entire life in this district. He married Lillie Howitt, who survives him. Until some few years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Ireland lived on the Howitt farm in Puslinch Township and it was owing to ill health that Mr. Ireland retired from active faming and took up his home in Hespeler. He had not been in good health for a number of years. Surviving are his wife; four children, Everett of Cleveland; Ralph and Olive at home; Keith of Puslinch Township; two brothers, Alex of Hespeler; James of Toronto; two sisters, Mrs. J. Marvin Eagle of Puslinch Township; and Mrs. George E. McGregor of Brantford. Funeral at 2: 30 on Thursday from the home. The service was conducted by Rev. J. W. Hunt, pastor of the United Church, of which Mr. Ireland was a member. Mrs. Robert Logan and Mrs. Harold Morris sang the favourite hymn, "Nearer My God to Thee". Pallbearers: C. A. Panabaker, J. E. Warren, H. Beaufeldt, James Armstrong, George stark and A. Rudell. Interment Hespeler Cemetery.
\emdashInformation from the marriage certificate of Sarah Ireland: Born c. 1864, in Grey Co., daughter of James Ireland and Jessie Fenton. On Dec. 17, 1888, she married J. Marvin Eagle, born c. 1860, son of Elijah Eagle and Louisa Adams.
