  Mewhiney, Ferne In loving memory of Ferne Mewhiney, born December 27 1921, died on October 12, 2016 at Chartwell residences in Elmira. Cherished mother of son Glenn (Della), daughter Darlene(Mark), she is also survived by grandchildren Nicole, Jennifer, Gillian and Jason, great grandchildren Hayden and Lucas, sisters Betty, Jean and Mary, brothers Jack and Bill, and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents Wray and Earla Beggs, husband Melvin, son Dennis, brothers Grant, Jim, Murray, Wayne and Ralph, sisters Hazel, Beatrice, Sandy and Ruby. Ferne was a fiercely independent woman, living in her own home and driving her car until the age of 92. She spent many happy summers visiting friends at Bellwood Lake. She looked forward to her family visits and enjoyed many hours playing cards and winning at Yahtzee. Christmas dinner will never be the same without Ferne's famous Christmas pudding. Ferne leaves behind a legacy of hard work and devotion to family. Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Russell officiating. Interment in Knox Wesley Cemetery, Millbank.
