      WELLESLEY, Jan. 19\emdash A well-known Wellesley resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Schmehl, died yesterday following an illness of two months. Born in New Hamburg, March 7, 1858, she would have reached her 91st birthday in March.

      Daughter of the late John Ruthig and former Mary Ann Weber, she was the widow of Peter Schmehl, who predeceased her 21 years ago. Mrs. Schmehl was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wellesley, and an honorary member of the Ladies Aid of that church.
      Surviving are five sons: George Schmehl of Wellesley, Otto of Elmira, Louis of Palmerston, Peter of Elmhurst, Ill., and Herman of Lombard, Ill.; six daughters, Mrs. Henry (Katherine) Zimmerman of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Magdalina) Salvage of Wingham, Mrs. Irvin (Thekla) Fleischauer, Wellesley, Emily and Esther Schmehl of Stratford, and Emma, at home; and two brothers, Louis Ruthig of New Hamburg and Herman Ruthig of Lisbon.

      The body is resting at the Futher Funeral Home, Wellesley, until Friday at 4 p.m., when removal will be made to her late residence. There a private service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, with a public memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Walter Heinze. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
