  • Notes
    • SCHEIFELE, Bruce G.

After a courageous battle, Bruce passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the age of 78 years.

Devoted husband of 51 years to Paula (nee Schweitzer, 2016). Dear father of Steven (Angela), Scott (Stephanie), and Mark (Kelly). Forever remembered affectionately as "Gramps" to Brooke, Eric, Jacob, Sarah, Joseph, Ella, Jack, and Tessa.

Bruce will be missed and remembered by his sister Lucine McKay (Gary), his brothers Kirk and Grant Scheifele, sisters-in-law Wendy Payne and Joy Becker and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Paula, and his parents Walter and Georgina (nee Miller).

Born and raised in Kitchener, Bruce grew to be a local entrepreneur and pillar of our community, who played a prominent role in developing Waterloo Region. He had a vision of providing engineering consulting services with a personal touch. He branded this "More Than Engineering" and in 1985, he opened the doors to MTE. Bruce believed that people were the key to the company's success. His work included his family, and his staff became his MTE family. Today, there are over 400 families relying on MTE for their livelihood. What a legacy!

Bruce found peace in the beauty of nature. He loved to travel but his best memories were cultivated at Windrock, his family cottage on Channel Island in Georgian Bay. Bruce made Windrock a sacred place for family and close friends to gather, to unwind, to re-establish priorities. It's the place where he raised his family and instilled values in his children and grandchildren.

It was important to Bruce to give back to his community. He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and had strong faith in God. He played an instrumental role in establishing a new church facility when the congregation outgrew the original building's capacity. Bruce was a chartered member of the Lakeshore Optimist Club. He contributed to countless charitable organizations and worked hard to influence his community in a way that reinforced the importance of compassion.

Special thanks to Bruce's caregivers at Grand River Hospital as well as all of those who have extended their prayers and support over the past few years.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, to attend the visitation and service for Bruce, personal face coverings are required, and relatives and friends must register (RSVP) at www.erbgood.com or by calling the funeral home at 519.745.8445. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service to celebrate Bruce's life and faith will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 700 Glen Forrest Boulevard, Waterloo on Monday, Sept. 27 at 2:00 pm. Cremation will follow, and a private family graveside interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
