      ______________

      LIEUT. H. L. SCHWARK

Serving with the Royal Scots Fusiliers on loan to the British Army, Lieut. Schwark, son of David Schwark of Waterloo, died of wounds on Aug. 28. He went overseas only three months ago, on May 10, and entered France early in June.

The telegram received by his wife gave the following information: "Lieut. Harold LeRoy Schwark has been officially reported to have died Aug. 28, 1944, as a result of wounds of chest, abdomen and shell fragment wound left thigh received in action. When further information becomes available it will be forwarded as soon as received." The message came from the director of records, Ottawa.

Lieut. Schwark was born in Hanover, Dec. 4, 1912, and attended the K-W Collegiate here. He worked at the Dominion Electrohome plant and was a member of the Scots Fusiliers reserve unit before joining the active unit March 26, 1942. He was commissioned in March, 1943. When the Scots Fusiliers regiment was disbanded he joined the Prince Edward Island Highlanders, and later volunteered for service with the British Army as one of the group of officers loaned by the Canadian Army.

Surviving, with his wife, the former Ruth Veitel, are two small daughters, Farrel Ann, age five, and Judith Mary, age three.

Mrs. Schwark believes her husband must have been wounded subsequent to Aug, 21 having written her on that date.

      Sept 7, 1944
