  DESCENDANTS OF JOHN YOST and KATHERINE KOHL JOHN YOST: Born in Darmstadt, Baden Hesse, Germany, in the year 1798. They were in rather poor circumstances and had a hard time getting along and making ends meet. They heard that America was such a rich country and easy to get along and make a living in, so their eldest son, William, suggested that he would go to America in search of work, and establish a home in the new country. After the departure of their son, William, his father went with him to the boat to see that he got safely on his way to "Canada". When he came home he threw himself across the bed and said, "One child gone to Canada but no more". After the departure of his son, he worried a great deal about him, and feared for his safety, and died about six weeks after his departure, which was the cause of his death, in the year 1847, at the age of forty-nine years.
