  The following tribute to the memory of Frederick L. Lasier, auditor for Parke, Davis & Co.. Detroit, who died in that city February 1, has been adopted by the Board of Directors of Parke, Davis & Co., at a special meeting: Frederick L. Lasier, whose sudden death on the evening of February 1, 1897, has brought grief to an extensive circle of friends and associates, devoted the last nine and a half years of his life to his duties as chief of our counting room. The marked ability and conspicuous success with which he fulfilled every requirement of his responsible post accordingly render it more than fitting that this house give formal testimony to the energy, the zeal, the loyalty, the large-minded capacity, the firm and comprehensive grasp, which are plainly manifested in and between the lines of his official record. But Frederick Lasier was more than an accomplished merchant; he was a man. He taught us all the lessons of dignity, honor and gentleness. In him was illustrated that difficult art of conduct which wins the common tribute from employer, associate and subordinate\emdash conduct respectful but never servile; punctilious but never arrogant; masterful, yet ever gentle and kind. His official work is embodied in the success of the house to which he devoted nearly a decade of his career; his personal memory is enshrined in the hearts of all who respected and loved him during life, and who in death lament him and cherish his memory. Exemplary father and husband, honorable merchant, faithful servitor, as friend, as citizen, as gentleman we deplore his untimely end. May the earth rest lightly upon him; may every solace of religious conviction comfort the grief of his kindred, and may time heal the wound inflicted by this sudden blow. Lasier, Parke, Davis & Co. lose a capable and upright business man who has served them for nearly ten years as Chief of Counting Room, with conspicuous success.
