7 May 1881 Michael Meyer died in Wilmot at age of 75 years and 7 months. He was born in Ederbach in Alsace, married Anna Maria Schmitthäusler of the same village in 1833 and emigrated to Canada in 1836, where he gained independent status through industry and thrift. He is survived by his widow, 7 children, 41 grand-children and 4 great-grand-children.
