  Wetzel, John F. Passed away peacefully, on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Freeport Hospital at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Katharina (Waschik) Wetzel for 60 wonderful years. Dear father of Nick and Lee Ann. Loving Opa to his princesses, Erin and Taylor. John came to Canada from Germany in 1951 and spent many years farming near Maryhill, ON. He was a welder at Babcock-Wilcox in Cambridge for over 25 years. John always enjoyed the outdoors, tending to his garden and his birds. John's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday June 14, 2016 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. (519) 749-8467. Parish prayers will begin at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface Church, 1355 Maryhill Rd., Maryhill, on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow at the Maryhill Heritage Park Community Centre, 58 St. Charles Street East, Maryhill. Private cremation. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Church Building Fund or Canadian Diabetes Association (cards available at the funeral home).
