  • Notes
    • James Riddoch was born at [Moray], Scotland in [1852]. Before leaving Scotland he was head cattleman for the Duke of Fife. He married Elizabeth Hacket in 1870. In 1873 James and his wife and family of two boys, James and William came to Ontario. They were seventeen days crossing the Atlantic in a sailing boat. They had to supply their own food. James worked on farms for a dollar a day until he was able to rent a farm and make a start for his family. They came west to Lacombe in 1898 to farm. The Riddoch's had twelve boys and two girls; Ann, Peter, Charles, Alex, George, Robert, John, Thomas, Frank and Elizabeth born in Ontario and the two boys William and James born in Scotland...
