- Buie Bassingthwaite passed away at Mindemoya Hospital on S aturday, September 12, 1987, in her 77th year.
Born Mary Elizabeth Blanche Bock on April 21, 1911, at Old Spring Bay, Manitoulin Island, she was the third child o f the late John Woods Bock and Frances Elliott. She (Blanche) received her education at S.S. No. 3 Carnarvon and Minde moya Continuation School. In 1929 she moved with her family to New Dundee and later to Kitchener where she was employed by Forsyth's Shirt Factory.
In 1934 she married Verden Buie and for the most of the next 34 years, they lived near Providence Bay. They had two children and two foster children. In 1972 she married Bayward Buie, and in 1979 she married Raymond Bassingthwaite. She is survived by her husband Raymond Bassingthwaite of Mindemoya; son John and daughter-in-law Mary of Kagawong., daughter Margaret and son-in-law Douglas King of Mindemoya; son Joseph Patreau and daughter-in-law Gail of Sault Ste. Mar ie; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister s Mildred (Mrs. Nelson Lehman) of Kitchener and Edith (Mrs. Gordon Eby) of Cranbrook, B.C.; brothers Carson Bock of Mississauga and Ronald Bock of Elmira. She was predeceased by husbands Verden in 1965, and Bayward in 1979; and by brother Alvin in 1967.
Eastern Star Service and visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church, Spring Bay on Sunday evening. Reverend Frank Haner officiated at the funeral service at 11: 00 a.m. Monday, September 14. 'Amazing Grace' was sung by Bruce and Margaret Galbraith and the congregation sang, "In the Garden". Six grandsons acted as pallbearers-Jeffery King, Bradley King, Matthew Patreau, John Smith, Steve Smith and Richard Pat terson. Interment followed in the Grimesthorpe Cemetery.

Gordon Eby), Carson and Ron Bock. She is also survived b y 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by husbands Verden (1965) and Bayward (1979) Buie. Fr iends were received at the Spring Bay Pentecostal Church with funeral services at the church Monday morning. Interment : Grimesthorpe Cemetery. Reverend Frank Haner officiated.
