- GOWING, ETHEL (Nee Chester)
On Sunday morning, February 25, 1934, at her home in Waterloo Township, in her 46th year. Mrs. Charles Gowing had not been in the most robust health and it is said, took a chill at the funeral of the late William H. Gowing a week ago, that resulted in her fatal illness. She was born in Puslinch Township, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Chester. A member of the Mennonite Church, she was well known throughout the district, where she was held in the highest esteem. Surviving are her husband, three sons and a daughter, Albert, John, Benjamin and Florence; four brothers, Albert, John and Benjamin Chester of Puslinch; Edward Chester of Guelph; three sisters, Miss Martha Chester of Puslinch; Mrs. Francis Hilborn of Preston; and Mrs. Charles Brown of Puslinch. Funeral on Tuesday, with a short service at the home at 1: 45, followed by a service at the Mennonite Church at 2: 45. Rev. R. J. Pike, pastor of the Mennonite Church was in charge, assisted by Rev. C. M. Good of Kitchener and Ensign Waters of Guelph. Pallbearers: Norman and James Chester and James Brown of Puslinch; Alger Hilborn, Robert and Bruce Gowing of Preston. Interment Hespeler Cemetery.
