- DIXON, WILLIAM E.
At Galt Hospital, at 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening, August 20, 1940, in his 70th year, after an illness of but five days. Mr. Dixon was up and around only a week ago. Born in Puslinch Township, he lived on the Dixon homestead on the 9th concession of Beverly prior to going to the U. S. to become a railroader. He was employed with the Great Northwestern Railway for thirty-five years. Upon the death of his sister here in 1936, Mr. Dixon retired and came to live with his mother in Galt. His mother passed away in 1938. Mr. Dixon was a widower, his wife having predeceased him over thirty years ago. His only relative on the Dixon side of the family is a nephew, John Dixon of Alhambra, California, who is en route here at present. The memorial service at his residence, 278 Main St. E. in Galt on Sat., Aug. 24 at 2 was conducted by F. D. Watson of Toronto. Two hymns were sung, "At Rest" and "Forever With The Lord". Pallbearers: Henry Wise of Kilbride; Earl Wise of Freelton; Earl Watson of Kirkwall; Robert Johnston, Know Holtzhauer and Charles Lapsley of the 9th concession of Beverly. Harold Gray Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrew's St., Galt. Interment Kirkwall Cemetery.
