Notes |
- Schmitt.-Elmina Cressman was born in Blenheim Twp., Oxford Co., Ont., Jan. 31, 1876; died Nov. 4, 1941; aged 65 y. 9 m. 4 d. She was married to Emanuel Schmitt on Mar.20, 1901. This union was blessed with 4 children. One died in infancy. She leaves to mourn a deeply bereaved husband, 1 daughter (Mrs. Herbert Wismer of Baden), 2 sons (Daniel and Jacob of Kitchener),2 grandchildren, 2 sisters (Mrs. Jacob Axt of Petersburg and Mrs. Ervin Gimbel of Breslau), 2 brothers (Alvin of Ceylon, Sask., and Joseph of Kitchener), and a host of other relatives and friends. She accepted Christ as her Saviour on Mar. 14, 1897, and has been a faithful and active member at Shantz Church for forty years. She served eighteen years as secretary of the Ladies' Aid. For the last number of years her health had been failing and, amid trials and suffering, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to take her to her eternal rest. She will be greatly missed in the home, church, and community, - above all, in the home. She was a real" mother in Israel," always ready to help wherever she could. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Bro. Orphen Wismer, and at the Shantz Mennonite Church by Bros. Moses Rothand L. H. Witmer. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. L.H.W.
