Tuesday, March 15th, 1932 - Monday, April 19th, 2021
"The most important thing in the world is family and love" - a well known quote that our Dad lived out in his life. He left us- his family, to be with his Lord and re-united with his wife of 63 years, Peggy. Loving and dedicated father of Jim (Yvonne) Schmiedendorf of Kitchener, John (Doris) Schmiedendorf of Cambridge, David Schmiedendorf of Cambridge, Ann (Mark) Knechtel of Bethany, and Susan (Tim) Durnford of Cambridge. Proud grandpa to thirteen (13) grandkids \endash Christine (Chris) Hyde, Amy (Justin) Knechtel Bowden, Bryan Andrews, Ben (Kristen) Knechtel, Amanda (Spencer) Howe, Sarah (Logan) Tackaberry, Alex (Kass) Vokey, Chelsea MacDonald, Sean (Nikki) MacDonald, Megan (Kyle) Schmiedendorf, Nicholas (Sarah) Vokey , Vanessa (John) Vokey and Lucas (Cass) Schmiedendorf. A great-grandpa to seventeen (17) - Bridgit , Abby and Pearl Bowden, Callie , Zach and Violet Knechtel, Lucy and Tenley Tackaberry, Oliver and Elliot Hyde, Hunter, Jett and Wyatt Vokey, Iris and Nora Vokey, Elyse MacDonald, and Simon Schmiedendorf.
Predeceased by parents Fred and Bertha Schmiedendorf, also predeceased by three (3) brothers and three (3) sisters.
Dad had many nieces and nephews from both the Schmiedendorf and Evans families, and was (mostly) appreciated for the interest he showed in their lives.
Much appreciation to the staff at Saint Luke's Place for the loving care given to our Dad, and especially to those in the A2 unit who have been amazing, especially in these Covid times.
A memorial and internment will be later in 2021, once larger gatherings are possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Luke's Place, (https://saintlukesplace.ca/about-us/).
