  George M. Battler Funeral services were held at Lingelbach United Church last Wednesday for George Melvin Battler, RR 1, Shakespeare, who died Mon. Jan. 20 in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. He was 75. Born in North Easthope, Mr. Battler was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Battler. He lived in North Easthope all his life and was employed with the Canadian National Railways until his retirement in 1959. He was a member of Lingelbach United Church and the church choir and was treasurer of church missions. One son died in infancy. In addition to his wife, the former Louise Stricker, he is survived by one son, Ray of Barrie; one brother, Warren of Sydney, B.C.; one sister, Mrs. Clora Nicklas of Tavistock and four grandchildren. Rev. J.B. Moore and Rev. M.E. Reuber officiated at the services. Burial took place in Lingelbach cemetery. The Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
