  • Notes
    • On a weekly basis, I have been Zoom chatting with my grandmother. Along with any family members who could join in the call, I have been asking her questions about her life.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day this week, I asked her about the dating years with my grandfather, Noah. In short, it was over a 4 year period and he would visit her at her parents farm or whatever home she was at as a "househand" earning money. (She is Mennonite) They got married when his stepmom was getting married herself and Noah needed a woman to care for him. My grandmother moved into her empty in-laws home after the wedding. She told us her summer honeymoon was spend in the pea patch that was planted by her step-mother-in-law during the spring.
