- KURTZ, James (Jim) George - (Jim began as councilor in Pilkington Township in 1972, Deputy Reeve until 1978; Reeve of Pilkington Township 1980-1990, Warden of County of Wellington 1985, Chairman of Rhodes Committee, and served on every committee in Wellington County, and member of several boards, including, Guelph General Hospital, Grand River Conservation Authority, and Wellington Terrace.
Jim retired from politics in 1999 and was a proud member of the Maryhill Knights of Columbus, and St. Boniface Church Holy Name Society.)
At Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, on Monday, April 9, 2007. Jim Kurtz, age 84 years, beloved husband of Helen (Bruder) Kurtz.
Loving father of Judy and her husband Bruce McKague of Waterloo; Jim Jr. and his wife Pat of Ariss; Gary and his wife Shirley of Fergus; Jerry and his wife Barb of Ariss; and Keith and his wife Cathie of Guelph.
Dear grandpa of Cathleen; Ian; Jennifer; Kyle; Bryce; Marisa; Veronika; Greg; Andrew; Becky; and Brittney.
Dear brother of Dorothy Hall and her late husband Ron; Irene Laidlaw and her husband Dick; Wilfred and his wife Dorothy; Ralph and his wife Ruth; Gerald and his wife Dorine; and the late Rita Tracey and her late husband Jim.
Dear brother-in-law of Betty Ellig, and Gertie Bruder.
Survived also by many nieces and nephews.
Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street N. Guelph (Wednesday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.).
Funeral on Thursday morning, April 12, to St. Boniface Church, Maryhill, for Funeral Mass at 10 o'clock.
Vigil for Jim on Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock.
Interment St. Bonface Cemetery, Maryhill.
