  • Notes 
    • John Detweiler was born in Canada, October 1, 1857. He came to Michigan with his parents when 8 years old. He lived the greater part of his natural life near Caledonia. He married Martha Nogles. To this union were given seven children; of this number three survive: Ephraim of Grand Rapids, Freeman and Mrs. Harvey Shook of Caledonia, Michigan. His second marriage was with Sarah Warner, who with two brothers, three sisters, and six grandchildren,survive. The funeral services were conducted from the United Brethren Church in Caledonia. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Holy Corners. The Rev. C. L. Snyder officiated.
