    • FRASER, ALEXANDER

About 5 o'clock on Sunday morning, July 26, 1942, at the Galt Hospital, in his 76th year. Mr. Fraser had not been in good health for the past three years and on Tuesday evening, he suffered a stroke. He was born in Puslinch Township, on January 6, 1867, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Fraser and attended school in the township. As a young man of about 17 years, he left for the west, where he homesteaded near Portage La Prairie, MN and he spent the greater part of his life farming in that district and near Bagot, MN. He spent over forty years in the western province as farmer, carpenter and thresher. On retiring some three years ago, he returned to the east and since that time, had made his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Heller of Queen St. West in Hespeler. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a Liberal in politics. Surviving are one brother, William Fraser of Arkell; two sisters, Mrs. Heller of Hespeler; and Mrs. Elizabeth Davenport of Baltimore, Maryland. The funeral was held from the home of his sister, Mrs. Herb Heller of Queen St. W. in Hespeler, on Jul. 28th at 2: 30, conducted by Rev. T. G. Marshall, minister of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers: T. Aikens, Fred Paddock, both of Puslinch; H. McCaig of Guelph; K. MacDonald of Crieff; I. Hobson of Valens and George Paddock of Hespeler. Interment at Crown Cemetery at Morriston.
