Following an illness of one week, he passed peacefully away on March 4, 1938, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Borthwick of 100 Forest St. in Guelph, in his 87th year. Son of the late Jacob Frey, he was born at St. Jacobs on Oct. 25, 1851. When quite a young man, he came to Morriston and took a very keen interest in church affairs, particularly in singing. He was leader of the choir of the Evangelical Church in Morriston for forty-five years, also at Duff's Church and Knox Church in Crieff. He spent the greater part of his life in Puslinch, moving to Guelph Township in 1914 and going to live with his daughter after his wife's death. Three of the family survive, one son, Christian N. of Vancouver; two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Borthwick and Miss Melinda, both of Guelph. One brother in Floradale also survives. His wife predeceased him seven years ago, as did also two daughters. Funeral on Mon., March 7 at 2, from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Borthwick. Rev. Bean of Morriston Evangelical Church officiated. The male quartet of Duff's Church, composed of K. Elston, L. McFarlane, M. McPherson and J. Archibald led the singing in two of Mr. Frey's favourite hymns, "Nearer my God to Thee" and "Beloved Sleep On and Take Thy Rest. " Intimate friends, who were associated with him in his church work while leading the choir, acted as pallbearers, Daniel McFarlane, W. G. Morlock, Alex Nicoll, S.
