Word has been received by Miss Charlotte Gibson of R. R. #6, Galt of the death of her brother, Robert, at his home in Melfort, SK, at the age of 82 years. He was the second oldest of the large family of the late Andrew D. Gibson. He was born at the old home in Clyde, now owned by George Jamieson. He and his wife moved to the Northwest in 1883. They have revisited the Clyde area several times and have spent a number of winters in California and on the coast. In religion, he was a Presbyterian until the United Church was organized, when he joined the latter.
The Melfort Moon of Melfort, SK has the following re: the death of Mr. Gibson, which occurred last month: The late Robert D. Gibson was born near Galt in 1848 and was in his 83rd year. The second eldest of a family of eight, he was of Highland ancestry. He was married in 1881 to Margaret Dickie and left for the west in 1882, settling at Virden, MN, where he farmed for eight years. Returning to the east for one year, he again went west, settling this time at Gilbert Plains, thence to Dauphin. He located in Melfort district in 1908.
