According to a report from Detroit, Mr. Gilchrist, who at one time worked a farm in the vicinity of Puslinch Lake, was instantly killed at Highland Park, Michigan, when he fell thirty-seven feet out of a bedroom window in the Morgan Hotel, while asleep, into a back alley. He was 53 years old and an employee of the Newcomb-Endicott Company. Mr. Gilchrist has a sister, Mrs. A. F. Robertson, residing ten miles from Guelph, on the Lake Road.

A former resident of Puslinch, suddenly, in Detroit, on August 18, 1923. He was born in Puslinch, the second son of the late John and Effie Gilchrist. He was a carpenter by trade, and removed to the west many years ago, where he worked at his trade until about nine years ago, when he returned to Detroit, where he had resided since. He was unmarried and is survived by a sister Mrs. Anthony Robertson; three brothers, John of Toronto; Malcolm of Calgary; and William of Galt. One sister, Mrs. Hugh Dickie of Pontiac, Michigan predeceased him some years ago. He was interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit, his brothers, John and William being in attendance.
