  Passed away on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at his residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Robert was formerly of R.R. # 2 Baden and was born 90 years ago in Wilmot Township. He was the son of the late Manasseh & Louida (Cressman) Shantz. Beloved husband of the late Lena (Albrecht) Shantz who predeceased him April 29, 2010. Loving father of James & Sandra Shantz of Baden, Dennis & Ferne Shantz of Crosshill, Paul & Christine Shantz of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Jonas, Leah, Colin and Nathan. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Ida & Lloyd Schwartzentruber, Helen Shantz, Mabel Shantz, Marie Shantz, Helen Shantz, Harry & Lucille Albrecht, George & Edith Albrecht, Ervin & Marjorie Albrecht, Eileen Woolner, Elenore Albrecht and many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by sisters Etta & Lloyd Shantz, Esther & Aaron Enns, brothers Howard & Hilda Shantz, Wilfred & Selda Shantz, Nyal Shantz, Armand & Irene Shantz, Mahlon Shantz, Ion Shantz, Arley Shantz, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Selina & Enos Boshart, Clara & Alvin Schlegel, Verna & Carl Siemon, Lorne & Emma Albrecht, Emanuel & Laurene Albrecht, Armand Albrecht and Gordon Woolner. Robert was a member of Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden and was an avid member of the New Hamburg Lawn Bowling Club. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Friday May 31, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will take place on Saturday June 1, 2013 at 3: 00 p.m. at Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden with Pastor Don Penner officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Canadian Cancer Society.
