- SCHMIDT, John W. - Died peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, May 14, 2009, John of RR 1, Wallenstein (Dorking), in his 89th year. Beloved husband of 60 years to Lydia (nee Albrecht). Loving father of Eileen (Leif Nielsen) of Kitchener, Kenneth (Margaret) of Kitchener, Edith (John Dunbar) of Listowel, Floyd of RR 3, Moorefield, Gordon (Marina) of Alberta, Doris (Budd McLaughlin) of Drayton, Ronald of Cambridge, Wayne (Irene) of Milverton, Walter of Elmira, Stanley of RR 1, Moorefield and Donna Klasen and her friend Kevin Linkert of Ayr. Dear grandfather of 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Lydia Schmidt and Nancy Schmidt both of RR 1, Linwood; his brother-in-law, Rueben Albrecht (Matilda) of RR 1, Millbank; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Schmidt and Malinda Albrecht both of Newton. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alif (nee Wagler); and his sister, Mary Lowden; brothers-in-law, Amos Albrecht, Harvey Albrecht, William Wagler, Jacob Schmidt; and sister-in-law, Edna Wagler. John was a retired farmer in the Millbank area and a retired employee of Roxton Furniture in Elmira. Friends may call at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home , 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Crosshill Mennonite Church, Crosshill on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. Pastor Jamie Gerber officiating. Interment to follow at Rush's Cemetery, Crosshill.
