    • Woman, 84, Succumbs To Injuries Sustained In Fall Down Stairs

Mrs. Benjamin Hilker, 84, died at her home 505 High street, at 3: 30 yesterday afternoon. A week ago Saturday Mrs. Hilker fell down the basement stairs in her home and suffered severe injuries from which it was imposible for a person of her age to recover.

Abigail Detwiler was born in Roseville, Ontario, December 22, 1844. When four years of age she moved with her parents, to Port Elgin, Ontario, where she lived until her marriage to Benjamin Hilker on January 22, 1869. After their marriage, in 1873, Mr. and Mrs. Hilker moved to Lansing, Mower county, where they lived on a farm for twelve years. In 1885 they moved to Austin which was the family home for 43 years.

Benjamin and Abigail Hilker were converted to the German Evangelical church at Port Elgin, Ontario, and were baptized in Lake Huron. They united with the United Brethren church in 1870. To them were born five children: Mrs. Dell Roberts, who died eleven years ago, January 22; Mrs. Eugene Fairbanks of Yakima, Wash.; J. W. Hilker of Rochester; A. F. Hilker and Mrs. C. E. Pitcher of Austin. All of the children except J. W. Hilker of Rochester were with their mother when death came. Mr. Hilker died September 10, 1905.

For the past three years Mrs. Hilker has been in failing health and has had the care of a trained nurse. Up until that time she took all the care of her own home on High street. She had also always been an active worker in the W. R. C.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Jordan Mortuary with Rev. Warner Johnson of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be made in Oakwood cemetery.1
