    • A retired nurse and life member of the veterans of World War One of the United States, Phebe Jane Detweiler, 93, died today at Heritage House, Eby Road, where she had been living. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John K. Detweiler, she was born in Bying Inlet, and was a graduate of Passavant Memorial Hospital, Chicago. In December, 1917, she joined the US army Nurse Corps, and in 1919 was with the American Expeditionary Force at Angers, France. Miss Detweiler, who lived most of her life in the Twin City area was a member of st. Andrew's Presbyterin church in Kitchener. She is survived by three nieces, Mrs. A.D. Elliott and Mrs. C.W. Bourke, both of Toronto, and Mrs. Peter Poole of Oshawa; one nephew, R.W. Detweiler of Sault Ste. Marie. Funeral was held Saturday. Rev. Dr. F.G. Stewart officiated. Burial was in East End Mennonite Cemetery.
