  Douglas William Hertel DECEMBER 11, 1943 \endash FEBRUARY 24, 2021 Beloved husband of Jane (nee Eltherington) for 53 years. Loving father of Stephen (Dan) and Samantha (Alex). Proud Papa to Reece and Kaine. Doug will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Judith Steeb and Brenda McGaghey, mother in-law Lillian Eltherington, brother in-law John Eltherington, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Richard Hertel. Doug retired from C.P Rail after 35 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and gardening in the summer and hockey in the winter, but he loved spending time at the "lakehouse" with the dogs and yelling at the umpires at his grandsons' baseball games. His perpetual smiling face will be missed. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.
