      PRESTON, May 31— A w ell-known resident of Preston, Claude Emil Von Ende, 410 Wellington street south, died suddenly at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, today. Deceased, age 45, a life time resident of Preston, took ill last Monday and was removed to the hospital where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. Complications set in following the operation resulting in his death. Mr. Von Ende, a mason by trade, was well-known for the garden statues he made. A skilled stone mason, he was employed in the erection of the new Kitchener Post Office, up until the time of his sickness. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union. Surviving are his widow, one sister, Mrs. H. G. Marshall, Preston and two brothers, Otto and Quinn, both of Preston, one brother, Herman, predeceased him two months ago and another brother, Lance, was killed in the Great War. Funeral services will be held on Thursday from the residence, 410 Wellington street south, at 2.30 p.m., with interment in Preston Cemetery.
