- FLT. SGT. CARL WEICKER Mar. 23, 1943
On operational duties only since the beginning of this month, Flt. Sgt. Carl H. Weicker, R.C.A.F. navigator is reported missing as of March 17. The 20-year-old airman, who will be 21 on May 8, is a son of Mrs. Emma Weicker, 281 Wellington St. N., and the late William Weicker. His wife, the former Grace Loree, whom he married in February, 1944, resides at 1889 Prospect St., Niagara Falls, Ont. Flt. Sgt. Weicker enlisted on Oct. 17, 1942, and after three months in Hamilton on a refresher course, was posted to Lachine, Que., and later to London, where he graduated in November, 1943.
Born in Kitchener, he attended local public school and the K-W Collegiate. Prior to enlisting with the R.C.A.F. he worked at the Brodey-Draimin Fur Co. and at the local radio station CKCR.
His brother, Flt. Lieut. W. J. Weicker, D.F.C., is home on leave from overseas duty.

WEICKER. CARL HEINRICH FS(N) R183956. From Kitchener. Ontario. Killed In Action Mar.16/45 age 21. #100 Squadron (Sarang Tebaun Jangan Duolok). Lancaster aircraft # PB 117 lost whilst attacking Nuremberg. Germany. FS. R. O'Reilly was also killed. One Canadian. FS. Hersey, was taken Prisoner Of War and four of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Flight Sergeant Navigator Weicker is buried in the War Cemetery at Durnbach, Germany.
