Notes |
- MacPherson, Helen ~ Peacefully passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Heritage House, St. Jacobs. Helen (Cress) MacPherson, age 93 years, was the beloved wife of the late Grant MacPherson (1974). Devoted mother of Dale and Deb MacPherson of St. Jacobs. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tim (Kyla) and Dana (Amaree), and by her great-grandchildren Braelyn and Kara. Dear sister-in-law of Vera Cress of St. Jacobs. Fondly remembered by Deb's family Darren, Tracy, Amber and Logan Shewfelt, Venetta, Brian, Chris Witt and Carrie Smith, Sherry Kraemer, and by her godchildren Bonnie Horst and John Cress. Helen was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her parents Harold and Olga (Binkley) Cress, her brothers Vernal, Wilbert and Lloyd Cress. Helen's spiritual journey was fulfilled by being a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs, where she was the organist, the director and member of the choir for many years. Helen enjoyed many family gatherings, especially with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, relatives and friends. Helen was a hairdresser for most of her life. She was an avid card player, enjoyed bingo, knitting, quilting and swing bowling. She also was a faithful fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Helen's love of music continued as a member of the singing group "The Merri Maids". The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, on Wednesday (today) August 8th from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 9th at St. James Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Martin Giebel officiating. In her memory, donations to St. James Lutheran Church or the KW Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. The family extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Heritage House, St. Jacobs, for the excellent care, support and love shown to Helen for the past four years.
