- William Peter Beckett
PRESTON, Feb. 25 - Ailing for a number of years and seriously ill since Christmas. William Peter Beckett, well-known Preston resident, died at the Galt Hospital at 8 o'clock Sunday morning at the age of 65 years. Born in Welland County, Mr. Beckett came to Preston district 30 years ago and resided here since that time. He was engaged in the bakery business and as a car salesman, while he was in charge of the stock room at Preston Woodworking Machinery for some years. He was a member of Preston Baptist Church and the Baraca Class of that church, and also of Preston Cambridge I.O.O.F. Lodge. He had lived retired for the past two years. His wife predeceased him nearly two years ago. Surviving are three brothers, Harold A. Beckett, Hamilton, John R. Beckett, Ancaster, and R. S. Beckett, Windsor. The remains are resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2: 30. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
