    • ARTHUR I. STEINKE

      Arthur Steinke of Kitchener, brother of Mrs. Wilfred Henrich of RR 2. Baden, died August 20 in Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital following a brief illness at the age of 56.

      A lifelong resident of Kitchener, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Steinke and was employed by George's Haulage.

      He was a member of St. Mathew's Lutheran Church and the Waterloo branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mr. Steinke served with the 24th Field Ambulance during the Second World War.

      His wife, the former Mary Uhrig, predeceased him in 1962.

      He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Lorraine) Shaefer of St. Jacobs; four brothers. Harold, Wilfred, Charles and Percy. all of Kitchener; six sisters. Mrs. Pearl Hofsletter, Mrs. Gertrude Wolfe, Mrs. Mary Rank and Mrs. Sanford (Leona) Kraft, all of Kitchener, and Mrs. Arnold (Elizabeth) Fischer of RR 4, Kitchener, and Mrs. Wilfred (Dorothy) Henrich of RR 2. Baden, and two grandsons.

      He was predeceased by one brother and one sister.

      The service was held Friday afternoon at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home with Rev F.W Zinck officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery.
