- Two New Hamburg Girls Die In Accident
Two New Hamburg girls were killed and three persons injured early Saturday morning in a two-car collision at the intersection of Waterloo County Roads 4 and 5 in Philipsburg
Dead are Ute Brodersen, 17, of 59 Hincks St., New Hamburg and Patricia Radunske, 16, of RR 1, New Hamburg.
In satisfactory condition at the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital are David George Shaw, 21, of 174 London St., Peterborough, driver of one car and Robert Anger, 24, of Snyder's Road, Baden. Peter John Schulthies, 18, of 84 Mornington St., Stratford is in satisfactory condition in Stratford hospital.
Miss Broderson and Miss Radunske were passengers in the Shaw vehicle. Robert Anger drove the other car.
Police believe the Anger car was southbound on County Road 5 while the Shaw vehicle was believed to have been westbound on County Road 4.
Miss Radunske. a grade 12 student at Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary school was an athletic representative at the school. She was also active in basketball. She was a member of the New Hamburg Baptist Church.
Miss Brodersen. one of 13 contestants in the Winter Carnival's Snow Queen Contest, was also a Grade 12 student at Waterloo-Oxford. She was a member of the school's photography club and the Inter-School Christian Fellowship and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the church choir.
Joint Funeral Service
Joint funeral services for the two victims were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hamburg on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Miss Brodersen is survived by her parents, Mr and Mrs. Walter Brodersen, 59 Hinckd St., New Hamburg; two brothers, Holgar and Bernard, both at home, and her grandfather, Max Scsen [unreadable] in Germany.
Miss Radunske lived with her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schiedel, RR 1, New Hamburg.
She also leaves her father, Otto Radunske; one brother, Robert, at home; four stepbrothers, David Schiedel, Kitchener; Robert, Waterloo; Douglas, London and Donald, RR l, Tavistock; two sisters, Mrs. Douglas (Sandra) Rae, Preston and Mrs. Kenneth (Marlene) Seidle, Kitchener and one stepsister, Betty Schiedel at home.
