Notes |
- John G. Schulze
John G. Schulze for many years prosperous and highly esteemed farmer of New Dundee passed away suddenly at his home on Menno St., Waterloo, early Saturday morning He was seized with heart attack at five o'clock and passed away a short time after, and before medical aid arrived. A sad feature was the fact that his two sons had left Detroit and expected to arrive in Waterloo to visit their father early Friday evening. They were however snowbound on their way and obliged to wait over and did not arrive until 8 o'clock in the morning of Mr. Schulze's death.
The late Mr. Schulze was born in New Dundee and would have celebrated his 75th birthday had he lived until Dec. 4th. After he retired from farming ten years ago, he moved to Waterloo. He was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Evangelical church. He was married in 1886 to Miss Lucinda Wildfong, of Dashwood, Hay township, who predeceased him in 1902.
The following year, July 16, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Gabel of Plattsville.
There survive, a sorrowing widow, three daughters and two sons of the first marriage, namely: Webster and Clinton Schulze of Detroit, Mrs. George Suggitt of Toronto, Mrs. Lloyd Orr of Calgary, Alta, and Miss Winnifred Schulze of New Liskeard, also one sister, Mrs. Alfred Stoltz of Kitchener, one brother, Henry Schulze of Tavistock, and a sister Miss Minnie Schulze predeceased him. The funeral took place on Wednesday at one o'clock from the family home where service was conducted by Rev. J. P. Hauch, pastor of the Waterloo Emmanuel Evangelical church. The funeral courtege proceeded to New Dundee where service was held in the U. B. church. Interment was made in the New Dundee Union Cemetery. Many sorrowing friends and relatives attended, many from a distance. Numerous floral tributes were sent by friends. The pall bearers were Messrs Samuel Schaab, Henry Kalbfleisch, Nelson Schatz, George Dietz and Wm. McDougall of Waterloo, Allan Hallman of Kitchener and Emmerson Bock and Edwin Hallman of New Dundee.
