    • Mishap Claims Hamburg Man, Bright Couple

A New Hamburg man and his daughter and son-in-law were killed as a result of a single car accident near Innerkip early Sunday.

Leslie Summers, 56, 28 Stone St., New Hamburg, his daughter, Joan Marion Stere, 26, RR 1, Bright and her husband Richard Cecil Stere, 27, were all in the front seat of Mr. Stere's car when it left the road on Highway 97, one-halt mile west of Oxford County Road 4. The trio was returning to New Hamburg at the time.

The Woodstock detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said the car apparently struck a tree. The force of the impact drove the left front of the car back into the front seat. The three had to be pried from the wreckage after the car was removed from the tree.

Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, the former Georgine Woods; three sons, Gary, Paul and Bradley, all at home; five daughters, Mrs. Archie (Laverne) McMillan of Paisley, Mrs. Richard (Ruby) Gruer of Calgary, Alta., Mrs. Richard (Linda) Bender, Port Elgin and Pauline and Catherine, both at home; five brothers, Stanley, Clarence, Russell and Gordon, all of Owen Sound and Norman of Keswick and two sisters, Mrs. Steven (Blanche) Byers, Owen Sound and Mrs. Hugh (Sarah) Byers of Keswick.

Mr. Stere is survived by four brothers, Clayton and Raymond of RR 1, Bright, Arthur of Woodstock and Howard of Baden; a sister, Mrs. Delmer (Helen) Zehr of Timmins; his father, Joseph of East Zorra Township, and his mother, the former Emma Roth of Woodstock.

Private service for all three will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg.

Mr. Summers will be buried in Owen Sound and Mr. and Mrs. Stere in the East Zorra Mennonite cemetery.
