  Vujanic, Ratko In his 80th year, Ratko Vujanic of Kitchener passed away peacefully in his home on May 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Ratko was born on May 13, 1943 in his beloved Laktasi, Yugoslavia. He was the youngest of five children. In 1966, Ratko embarked on a trans-Atlantic adventure, landing him in Canada. He never intended to stay, but life had other meaningful plans. It didn't take long once he arrived in Cambridge to meet what would become one of his many life-long friends, and to start his work as a skilled machinist at Havlik Technologies. During his time there, Ratko was instrumental in the fabrication of specialty parts for the first Canadarm, a robotic arm used by NASA in space. He later realized a life-long dream of owning and operating his own business, R-Tech Custom Machining Inc. Anyone who knew Ratko knew he was passionate about gardening. Not only did he have beautiful flower gardens that twice were recognized by Communities in Bloom, his bountiful vegetable gardens fed family, friends, neighbours, and anyone fortunate enough to stop by. As well, his hospitality was second-to-none. Guests never left without their fill of his home-made smoked meat and wine. Ratko will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Mira. He is also survived by his children Sue Amer (Reg Bennett), Lara Fox (Doug), Kristina Vujanic, and David Vujanic (Claudia); grandchildren Will Kluckow, Lily Fox, and Sara and Brayden Vujanic; siblings Milos (Milislava) and Maria; mother-in-law Milka Persin; brother-in-law Ivan Persin (Carol), and many nieces and nephews. Ratko was predeceased by his parents Zorka and Ljubo, brother Anjelko, sister Stana, brother-in-law Radovan, and father-in-law Ivan Persin. Ratko's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener. The service will take place at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in the chapel of the funeral home, followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery.
