Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, Pierre died at home, on Saturday, July 31, 2004, He was 60. Beloved husband and best friend of Ann (Rutherford); dear father of Jean-Pierre Dube and his wife Teresa of Chicago and Diane and her husband Kevin Slater of Oakville. Pierre will be lovingly remembered by his two grandchildren, William and Isabel. Brother-in-law of Donald Rutherford and his wife Nancy of California, Douglas Rutherford and his wife Anne of Ottawa and uncle to Chris, Ian and Jane Rutherford. He was predeceased by a nephew, Sam Rutherford and his parents, Raymonde (Mande) and Herbert Dube. Pierre had a distinguished teaching career in the French department at the University of Waterloo for over 30 years. He was instrumental in helping to introduce French immersion into the school system in Waterloo Region. Pierre was a faithful member of Trinity United Church in Kitchener. Friends are invited to share their memories of Pierre with his family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Tuesday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate Pierre's life and faith will be held at Trinity United Church, 74 Frederick Street, Kitchener, on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Lori Campbell officiating. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family at the church for refreshments and a time to visit. The committal service will take place at Parkview cemetery , Waterloo, today, (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. In memory of Pierre, donations to the Herbert and Raymonde Dube Scholarship at the University of Waterloo, Trinity United Church or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy and can be arranged through the funeral home
