- Obituary for Matthew Adam Schram
Schram, Matthew Adam (December 29, 1923- April 28, 2015)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew Adam Schram. Sadly missed by his son Mark Schram and his wife Debbie, daughter Susan Forwell Recchia and her husband Joe Recchia; grandsons Ryan Forwell ( Nicole), Elliot Forwell (Bryn) and Matt Schram; and great-granddaughter Riley Forwell and great-grandson Karson Forwell. Predeceased by his wife Ruth (Hiuser). Dear brother of Catherine, Robert, Peter (Florence) and John. He is also survived by in-laws Irene Rose, Mary Hiuser, and Laverne and Norma Hiuser and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the Schram and Hiuser families. Born in Hungary in 1923, Matthew immigrated with his mother and siblings to Canada at the age of 5. He lived in Cornwall and Montreal in his youth and eventually moved to the K-W area where he met and married Ruth Hiuser, his wife of 62 years. Matt worked at Uniroyal for 33 years and followed up this first retirement with a new phase in his life. He was employed as office manager and bookkeeper for DBC Smart Software owned at that time by Gerry Forwell and Maurice Boughton. Retiring finally to their home in Southampton, Matt and Ruth spent many years enjoying the splendor of living by the water and they left this home with great sadness only when illness began to hinder their lives. He was a gentle man in the truest sense with a positive attitude toward life and others. He always showed deep care and concern for his family and friends.
Matt will be remembered as a hard worker who built his family's home on Walker Street in Kitchener and completed most of the work on his home in Southampton. He would try fixing anything from cars to plumbing. He was happy with life's simple pleasures: fishing with his grandsons, golfing, watching the Blue Jays, sunning, reading and having a glass of wine. Matt and Ruth enjoyed their travels to Europe and especially Hungary. His 9 winters spent in Florida were some of his fondest memories.
We thank the staff at Clair Hills for the kindness and concern they exhibited with Matthew's care in his final years. Relatives and friends are invited to remember Matt at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener, on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. followed by a service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment Woodland Cemetery following the reception. If so desired, donations may be made in Matt's memory to the Canadian Red Cross (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com to view Matt's memorial.
